Mary (Trostle) Sisson, age 98, of Riverton, died September 6, 2015. At her request, cremation has taken place. She will be buried with her husband at the family plot in McPhearson, Kansas.
Mary Trostle was born at home on July 15, 1917, in Nickerson, Kansas, to Burton and Fannie (Hoerner) Trostle. She was raised along with her siblings on the family farm. She attended schools in Kansas and graduated high school there.
In the spring of 1942 she married George Sisson in Hutchinson, Kansas. They had a son, David, on June 23, 1945.
Mary was a nurse by profession.
Together Mary and George travelled extensively as he worked for Greyhound Bus Co. They lived in many places and Mary fondly remembered their living in England for a time.
Mary and George were living in California when George passed in 1994. She moved to Riverton in 2006 to be close to family.
Mary resided at Homestead Assisted Living for the past 9 years where she made numerous new friends. She always enjoyed meeting new residents and hearing the varied life stories of each one.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Sue Trostle of Costa Rica, nephew, Jim Richard, and Robert Trostle, and Larry (Pat) Dowse of Riverton. Also survived by nieces, Sue (Jesse) Stockhouse, Sally Warrick, and Coleen (Terry) Dunn of Riverton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Burton and Fannie Trostle, her husband, George Sisson, brother, John Trostle, step-sister, Lillian Dowse, half-sister, Ruth Warrick, and brother-in-law, Claud Dowse.
