James Neil Miles 82 died January 13, 2016 at his home in Riverton. Jim’s wishes were to be cremated and for no service to be held but instead for a memorial luncheon and gathering of friends and family. The luncheon will be held at the Senior Center in Shoshoni WY on Saturday January 23, 2016 at 01:00 pm.
Jim was born January 28, 1933 in Casper WY to James Noah and Nellie K (Kerr) Miles
He attended school at the family ranch between Hiland and Moneta as well as a private school in Sidney Nebraska; he graduated from Natrona County High School in 1950.
He was Korean War veteran serving in the US Army based out of Bremerton and Seattle Washington. He was honorably discharged to come home and help on the family ranch after his father fell ill.
On August 30, 1969 he married Barbara Jean Stewart of Alliance Nebraska to this union three children were born.
James operated the families 43 Ranch Company on Deer Creek for 52 years before going to work for the city of Riverton Water Department from which he retired in 2012.
Jim loved hunting birds, fishing and camping. He was a member of the Hot Springs REA, board member for Tri-State G&T and the Wyoming Stock growers.
He is survived by Sister Cecelia Kasper and husband Tom of Riverton. his children Mary M of Alliance Ne, James N Miles II and wife Megan of Hemingford Ne, Charles and wife Sheri of rural Alliance Ne. Granddaughters Dali, Samantha, and Kail. Nephews James (Kelly) Kasper of Riverton, Tim (Kim) Kasper of Houston Alaska nieces Susan Kasper and Anna(Ed) Wolfe both of Riverton. His companion Maggie Wallage of Riverton and his best friend his dog Chewey.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
