Donna Marie Landen

Dec 22, 1931 - Mar 3, 2016
Donna Marie Landen, 84, passed away March 3, 2016 from a sudden illness related to pneumonia.

There will be a funeral mass at 11 a.m. at our Lady of the Woods Catholic Church Saturday, March 12 in Dubois with graveside services and a reception at the Dubois Senior Center after the church service. A visitation and viewing Friday night at 6 p.m. at the church will be followed by a rosary.

Donna was born in Lander on December 22, 1931 to Louis J. and Lillian Carr (Leseberg) Meckem. She spent her early years in Dubois, where her parents ran a gas station and motel. During World War II, she and her family traveled throughout Arizona and California to find work.

Dubois was always her home. Lou and Lillian returned to Dubois where Donna graduated high school. It was there that she met her future husband Orville, who had returned from the war and gone to work for the Wyoming Game and Fish department. Donna spent one year away in Kansas attending college and then hurried home to marry Orville; they exchanged vows November 26, 1949 and spent the next 67 years together.

Donna loved Orv and she loved her family. She was the All American mom, devoted to her three children. She was an avid reader and liked a good movie. She was always up for a visit or a good card game. Donna’s pies, and especially the flaky crusts, were legendary at bake sales. Early in her life she and Orv spent much of their time dancing and traveling. They enjoyed snow mobiling and camping in Wyoming’s mountains.

Donna is survived by her husband Orville; her three children: Mary Keith of Portales, N.M., Bill and Robyn Landen of Casper, and Tom Landen of Rock Springs; four grandchildren: Michael and Lacey Keith, Nick and Tara Smith Landen, Zachary Landen and Hailey Rodgers; three great grandchildren: Zoe and Lyla Keith and Lillian Landen; her sister Dorothy Lou Stevens of Dubois; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Jon Meckem.

Memorials in Donna’s memory can be sent to Our Lady of the Woods Catholic Church in Dubois.
