Emma E. Kelly, 94, of Riverton-Hudson, died Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Laramie Care Center. A memorial service will be held at Davis Funeral Home on Saturday, April 16, 2016, at 10:00 am. Inurnment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
Emma E. Van Vleey was born October 6, 1921 in Hudson, Wyoming to Eugene and Edith (nee. Harvey) Van Vleet. Emma graduated from Riverton High School.
She married Vurnon Kelly and the couple had two children, Karin and Verna.
She was involved with the local 4-H, girl scouts, JOB’s daughters and was the Fremont County Youth Camp treasurer for years. Her family was really important to her. She was also known for her great seamstress work. Her heart was as big as her laugh. She had a great sense of humor and was known for her generosity.
Emma was very involved with her community in Riverton. She was a member of the Rebecca’s, Riverton’s Eastern Star, Hudson Homemakers and UW’s Do and Enjoy Extension Club in Riverton for many years.
Emma is survived by her daughters, Karin Shaffer of Torrington, Wyoming and Verna Morfeld of Laramie, her brothers, Clark (Dorothy) Van Vleet of Hudson, Wyoming and Lyle (Marilyn) Van Vleet of Soldatna, Alaska. She is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, three grandchildren; Vurnon Doney, Karey Lange and Celena Shaffer, 11 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Delores Roddon and grandson, Erin Morfeld.
