Richard “Dick” Corbaley, 80, of Lander, died on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at his home in Lander. A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
Richard Earl Corbaley was born on October 18, 1935 in Los Angeles, CA to Richard C. and Jane (Cole) Corbaley. He attended school in Glendale, CA graduating from Long Beach Poly Tech High School. He then moved to Alaska and attended the University of Alaska earning his degree as an Engineering Geologist.
On January 6, 1959 he married his wife of 56 years, Lee Ann Cuff in Fairbanks, AK. They moved to California where they raised their family and he worked for the State of California as an Engineering Geologist. In 2001 he retired from the “Republic of California” and became a snowbird wintering in California but summering in Lander, WY. He finally made his permanent home in Lander the beginning of 2016.
He was a very active member as a, Mason in his home lodge in Lakewood, CA. the Oakhurst/Sierra Lodge #788. He was also active in the San Joaquin Valley Shriners. He achieved the honor of being invited into the Order of Quetzalcoatl where he became a vital member in good standing. He loved life and had many hobbies. Some of these included making knives, collecting rocks, enjoyed traveling, woodworking, and leatherwork. He was friendly to everyone and had an infectious sense of humor. He loved dogs, especially hounds and will be greatly missed by Brandy and Grace.
He is survived by his wife, Lee Ann Corbaley; son, Richard C. Corbaley and his wife, Mary Ann of Seal Beach, CA; daughter, Donna Rasmussen and her husband, Shane of Lander, WY; grandchildren, Richard Ivan Corbaley, Christopher Cole Corbaley, Cory Rasmussen and his wife, Sarah, Kyle Rasmussen and his wife Jorden, and Cody Rasmussen; great grandchildren, Caellum and Henry Rasmussen; sister Jane Pedersen of California; and niece, Linda Hart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Jane Corbaley.
