Vernon “Vern” Cole, 82, of Dubois died at his home on Sunday, May 15, 2016. There are no services planned.

Vernon Peter Cole was born on July 10, 1933 in Detroit, MI to Andrew and Maria (Generelli) Cole. He and his two siblings were first generation Americans as their parents emigrated from Italy. He attended schools in Detroit, earning his high school diploma before joining the military and serving during the Korean War.

He married Patricia Sypniewski in 1955 and together they had two children. She passed away in 1987. He married Judy Miller in 1991 and she also preceded him in 2014.

In 1966 he came to Wyoming on a hunting trip and decided he wanted to live here. So within a year he had moved his family from Detroit, MI to Power River, WY. There was a “small” change for the family but they all grew to love Wyoming as their forever home.

He had a varied working career, he was a sheriff, meat cutter, and carpenter. He was known as a master craftsman and could make anything and everything. He also was a master at repairing anything. He was known by family and friends as a “Jack of All Trades”.

He had a passion for motorcycles’. He loved everything about them, riding them, working on them, and talking about them. He was an outdoors man who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and being in the Wind’s. His constant companions on all of his outings were his dogs which he loved dearly.

He is survived by his daughter, Susan Cole of Dubois, WY and his son, Ben Cole and wife, Jeannie of Riverton, WY.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Maria Cole; sister, Juanita Cole; brother, Cliff Cole, and his wife’s, Patricia Cole and Judy Miller-Cole.
