Sandra “Sandi” David, 66, of Lander passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 5, 2016 in her home surrounded by her family. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 12, 2016, at the United Methodist Church in Riverton.
Sandra Kay David was born on May 24, 1950 in O’Neill, NE to Verle Urwin and Doris Elma (Brown) David. She spent her first six years in Chambers, NE before the family moved to Riverton. She was one of eleven children, five girls and six boys. She graduated from Riverton High School with the class of 1968. She lived the last eight years in Lander.
She attended the United Methodist Church in Riverton.
She worked at the Riverton Middle School for 26 years as the school secretary. She wasn’t ready to “retire” from all the children so she obtained her substitute teaching certificate and was a substitute for three years.
Sandi loved gardening, doing all sorts of crafts including ceramics and cross stitch, and being a Wyoming girl, she loved the outdoors and all it offered. The love she had for her family was always first in her life and she was a great supporter of all of her family and extended family in all they did. Beside her family her love and passion for children was next to nothing when it came to fighting for their rights and needs. She had a special place in her heart for children that were struggling in life and just needed that special person to believe in them. She touched many children’s lives and made a difference for them.
She is survived by her special companion, John Howell; sons, David Nicol and his wife Natasha of Rochester, WA and Devon Nicol of Riverton, WY; daughter, Julee Nicol of Riverton, WY; brothers, Larry (Kathy) David, Vernon (Brenda) David, Lyle (Colleen) David, Ronnie David, Terry David, and Dale (Teresa) David; sisters, Darla (Lynn) Paskett and Kathy (Willie) Schilling; grandchildren, Colton (Shaelyssa) Hunter, Mason Hayden, Morgan Hayden, Keira Nicol, Kyleigh Nicol, and Joshua Nicol; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Verle and Doris David; two sisters, Ruby David and Shirley David; and sister-in-law, Jamie David.
