A lifelong resident of the Riverton area, Olive O. Day died on Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at the Lander Valley Medical Center. She was 89 years old.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 12, at the Davis Funeral Home with Pastor Todd Smith of the Riverton Christian Church officiating.
Inurnment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Riverton.
Olive Opal O'Neal was born in Riverton on June 6, 1918, the daughter of Samuel and Mae (Coen) O'Neal. She started school at the Delfelder School northeast of Riverton and was graduated from Riverton High School with the Class of 1937.
Following high school graduation, she worked as a seamstress in the Roy E. Hays Store. She was also a cook and cleaned cabins for Mrs. John Day at Lysite. It was at that time that she met her future husband.
She married Hugh S. Day in Riverton on Sept. 4, 1939. He started First Guaranty Savings and Loan and together they had Day's Conoco on Main Street and Texaco on Federal, where she did the bookkeeping. She also worked as a bookkeeper for Pacific Power and Light and retired from there. Mr. Day preceded her in death on Sept. 7, 1988.
She was a long-time member of the Riverton Country Club.
Mrs. Day is survived by a brother, Ralph Trenary, Jr., and his wife Marion of Riverton; a nephew, Mark Trenary and his family of Montana; a sister, Nora "Rosie" Trenary Applehans of Riverton, and nephew, Allan Applehans and family of Alaska; three step-grandchildren, Russell Asbell, Daryl Asbell, and Yvonne Asbell.
In addition to her husband, Hugh S. Day, Mrs. Day was preceded in death by her father, Sam O'Neal; mother, Mae Coen Trenary; step-father, Ralph Trenary; step-daughter, Marion Asbell; nephews, Arthur Applehans, and niece, Karen Trenary.
