Funeral services for Winter Rose J. Thomas Jenkins will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 9, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, with Catholic clergy officiating. Burial will follow at Arapaho Catholic Cemetery at St. Stephen's. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 8, at the home of Lloyd "Sonny" and Debra Jenkins, 1539 Elmwood Drive, Beaver Creek Housing, with a wake to follow. Miss Thomas Jenkins died on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at Beaver Creek Housing. She was 14 years old. Winter Rose J. Thomas Jenkins was born on April 14, 1994, in Riverton. She was the daughter of Lloyd A. "Sonny" and Debra Jenkins and mother Julian Standing Elk. She lived all her life on the Wind River Indian Reservation and attended the Arapahoe School. Miss Thomas Jenkins was baptized into the Catholic Church, had received her First Holy Communion, and was confirmed. The family said she attended their cultural ceremonies and sang sweat songs, had a beautiful voice, was very kind-hearted and loved everybody, especially Grandma Debbie. She was an artist, enjoyed designing clothes, listening to music and hanging out with her friends. Among her survivors are her parents, Lloyd A. "Sonny" and Debra Jenkins of Riverton; mother, Julian Standing Elk of New Jersey; grandparents, Donna J. Antelope, Timothy Thomas, George and Eunice Moss, Leonard J. Moss, Sr., Richard Poncho LoneDog, Charlotte LoneDog, Lynda Noah and family, Violet LoneBear and family, Melody LoneBear and family, Darrell LoneBear, Sr. and family, William Jay LoneBear and family, Rose Mary Guerue and family, Rebecca Kuku and family, Donna Goodman and family, David LoneBear, Sr. and family, Theresa Williams, Michael Dale Blackburn; great grandparents, Sandra Burnette and Joseph Waterman; brothers, William LoneBear, Norman "Boomer" Bitsie, Jr., Jaydis Bitsie, Bear Lee; sisters, Brett LoneBear, baby sister Amanda Lelah Jenkins, Shailynne Bitsie, Serena Thomas and Amimlynn Thomas; uncles, Ira Jenkins and his companion Raven Oldman, Rocky and Nathan Thomas, Preston, Jesse, Arlo "Skeeter," and Shawn Moss; aunts, Ione Jenkins and her companion Darrell Hutchinson III, Madeline Bitsie and her husband Norman, Joann Moss and Theresa Guina; numerous other aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father Robert L. Thomas; a sister, Jeanette Thomas; grandparents, William LoneBear and Ione (Hatten) LoneBear.
