Sonja Birdshead, 53 of Riverton passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at her home. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 25, 2018, at Davis Funeral Home. The wake will follow at 391 Lefthand Spur Road. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, January 26, 2017, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church with burial to follow at Arapaho Catholic Cemetery.
Sonja Kay Birdshead was born on July 10, 1964 in Concho, OK to Jesse and Joann (Dewey) Birdshead. She grew up in Fremont County and graduated from Riverton High School.
She was of the Catholic faith and a member of Saint Stephen’s Catholic Church.
Sonja lived in Denver, CO, Concho, OK, Fort Worth, TX, and made Riverton her forever home 20 years ago.
She worked as a Nurse’s Aide for the Wyoming State Life Resource Center for eighteen years before retiring. She devoted herself to her grandchildren helping raise them.
She is survived by her daughters, Tashina Birdshead and companion, Vincent Yellowbear Jr., and Kayla Birdshead; grandchildren, Keana Birdshead, Kieden Birdshead, Kyree Birdshead, and Vincent Yellowbear, III; and brothers, Jess Birdshead and Leon Birdshead.
She was preceded in death by her parent; sister, Bobbett Birdshead; and nephew, Keanan Monroe.
