Gregory Francis Simon passed on February 14, 2018 surrounded by family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at Davis Funeral Home. The family is encouraging people to bring stories to share at the service.
Born September 22, 1946 to Thomas Francis Simon and Betty Lorraine (Lewis) Simon in Lander, WY. Greg resided in Riverton, WY all of his life.
In High School, he participated in sports and later attended the University of Wyoming.
He married Linda Colleen Schilling on October 28, 1967 and they made Riverton their home.
Family gatherings and time spent with friends were Greg’s favorite things. The love from his children and grandchildren was his joy and strength. After visiting with them, he always said “now that was a good day”.
His interests included chess, history, hunting, fishing, gardening, riding their RZR side by side, camping, and travel. He was an avid reader and could complete an 800 page book inside of a few days.
He and wife, Linda owned Riverton Sheet Metal until his retirement in 2013. Greg was a member of the ELKS Lodge, Riverton Planning Board and RFD. He proudly served our community as a volunteer fireman and Fremont County arson investigator for over 11 years. He enjoyed the challenge of firefighting and the camaraderie he found with his fellow fireman.
Greg never lost his sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh with some of his many “Gregisms” like – “If it was more fun, it would be a run away”. He was always willing to lend a hand or a strong shoulder to lean on.
He’s survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda Schlling Simon, Sons – Christian Gregory and fiancé, Michelle Widmayer, Brian Anthony Simon and companion, Amy Monroe.
Grandchildren – Adam (Adelle Gard) Simon, Angelina Simon, McKenzie Monroe, and Marcelina Jimenez. Great Grandchildren – Jenna, Carsen Gregory, and Grace Simon.
Survived by - Sister, Denise (Richard) Johnson, Sister Carol (Schilling) and Mark Westmoreland, Brother, Willie and Kathy (David) Schilling, Niece Brianna (Schilling) and Tyler Larsen and family, Nephew, Cody and Kaylan Schilling and family.
