Services under the direction of Davis Funeral Home. Barbara “Barb” Hanson, 70, of Riverton passed away at her home on Thursday, March 22, 2018. A memorial service will be held at Davis Funeral Home on Friday, March 30, 2018, at 10:00 am with Pastor Robin Stupka officiating. Everyone is invited to a reception after the service from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. Friday at the family home, 4250 Windsong.
Barbara Jean Burton was born on August 26, 1947 in Alliance, NE to Lee and Mary Jeannette (Cooksey) Burton. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith.
On December 26, 1967 she married the love of her life, Colin Hanson in Lander, WY. Together they raised two boys in Rocks Springs, Jeffrey City, and Riverton.
She worked for the Jeffrey City School District as a bookkeeper for over fourteen years before returning to Riverton. She then worked at the Riverton Hospital in the business office until she retired.
She enjoyed being outside in her flower and vegetable gardens. She was also a quilter, not just your weekend quilter, she did over 100 quilts, taught classes, and thoroughly enjoyed being around the comradery of her quilting groups.
She is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Colin Hanson; sons, Edward Hanson and wife, Lana of Roswell, NM and Andrew Hanson and wife, Nancy of Lander, WY; father-in-law, Clinton Hanson of Lander; brothers, Ray Burton and wife, Jean of Cheyenne, LeeRoy Burton and wife, Abbey of Sidney, MT; sisters, Delores Alloway and husband, Bill of NE, Iva Lee Carter of Rapid City, SD, Judy Young and husband, Richard of Riverton, WY, and Nina Ward and husband, Robert of LaGrange, WY; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Jeannette Burton.
