John A. Boesch, Jr., 80, passed away peacefully May 24, 2018 at his home, surrounded by the love of his family. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Saint John Lutheran Church in Riverton. A reception at the Reach Foundation will follow the Masonic graveside burial ceremony. Donations can be made to the Shriner’s Crippled Children’s Hospital, in care of Davis Funeral Home.
John was born in Truman, MN. He graduated from Truman HS in MN in 1956 and attended the University of MN 1957-59. He was in the MN Insurance industry for 12 years, moving to Wyoming in 1971.
He established A&B Business Systems in 1979, specializing in office products, electronic and computerized cash register, and a certified consultant for business Software.
He was active in the community in many youth and community organizations: he managed and umpired in the Little League for two years, served as President and Umpire in Chief at the Babe Ruth League and continued to umpire several more years; Jaycees on both the local and state levels; Cub and Boy Scouts; RAT Swim team; member of Riverton Masonic Lodge #26 of A.F. & A.M., past Master of said Lodge for 19000 and 19000, District Education Councilor of the Grand Lodge of Wyoming A.F. & A.M. and local Shriners; Charter member and past President of the Wind River Road Riders; certified Hunter Safety Instructor; Charter member and past President of the Wind River Muzzleloaders, Charter and past President of the Wyoming State Muzzle Loading Association; Founder and Charter Member and past President of the 1838 Rendezvous Association.
John was instrumental in the preservation of the 1838 Rendezvous Association site and the 1838 Rendezvous Association’s drive to preserve the area near the confluence and the purchase of the Knight Drive in property as a charter member in the organization of the Wind River Heritage Center; politically active as precinct chair and state delegate for years. In 1994 John & Gerri, were chosen as Royalty for the Riverton Winter Carnival. In 2002 John & Gerri, as a united team, were awarded the Riverton Chamber of Commerce’s Lifetime Service Award.
In addition to all his community activities, he enjoyed traveling, shooting and muzzle loading activities, and motorcycling around the world. He & Gerri traveled to Russia, Austria, Italy, and Germany, riding their motorcycle through the Swiss Alps and all the way to Alaska.
John is survived by wife Gerri; daughters, Giny (Pete) Sciurca, Julie (Ray) Buller, Jr. and Jodi Reed (Steve Peay); son John (Lisa) Boesch; granddaughter Lexi Andrea James; grandsons, Brandon (Kaya) and Jake (Samantha) Reed, Nick Sciurca, and Cody Boesch; great grandson Ethan Reed; sister, Darla (Bob) Algoe, nieces Kelley, Tammy, Erin; sister-in-law, Margie Nusbaum and nephews, Larry, Steve, Jim; Brother-in-law, John Brenner and nephews, Tim & Dave.
John was preceded in death by his parents.
