Paul Newton Helms, 80, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2019 in Riverton, Wyoming. He was born January 17, 1939 in Cheyenne, Wyoming to William Louis Helms and Frieda Bade, the fourth of six children.
Paul was raised in Ogden, Utah, graduated from Ben Lomond High and served in the Coast Guard. He married Rosalie Hull in June, 1961, later divorced. Paul owned a sign company and painting business and lived in several states throughout his life. He loved playing the part of the “Preacher” in pioneer wagon train re-enactments, writing, and creating museum-quality Old West displays. Paul was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Paul was preceded in death by his son, Mark, his parents, and most of his siblings. He is survived by his daughter, Marlene (Tim Pruess) of Salt Lake City, UT; his sons Larry (Wendy) of Manassa, CO and Alan (Colleen) of Roy, UT; his brother, Cliff; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
As per his wishes, Paul will be laid to rest in the Ogden City Cemetery. “Gone rock hunting with Dad”.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home and Crematory.
