David Morris, 68, of Dubois passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2020, at his home. Cremation has taken place and services will be announced at a later date.
David Kerry Morris was born on January 29, 1952 in Pueblo, CO to John Oliver Morris and Norma Kay (Shippee) Morris-Banta. He grew up on the south side of Aurora, CO. He moved to Riverton in 1975 making it his home until he recently moved to Dubois.
Dave was a very spiritual human who had a close connection with the creator of the universe.
Dave learned drywalling at a young age from his step-father, Wayne Sweeney. He worked as a self-employed drywaller since 1976, owning Dave Morris Drywall, and taking pride in his work. His trusty right-hand man, Larry Fitzpatrick, will carry on the legacy of drywalling. Most recently, he and his partner established a vacation rental business.
Dave was an enthusiast for life. He enjoyed spending time with his loved ones and taking life as it came, in a grateful and patient manner. He always carried a smile on his face and never took life’s trials too seriously. Dave spent close to 30 years playing fastpitch softball and was a part of numerous state championship and regional championship teams. He spent years coaching softball, little league football and baseball. He volunteered to maintain the Riverton Softball Facility and assisted with many other community events. Dave loved hunting, fishing, and searching for Native American artifacts. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing and watching all sports. Most of all, Dave loved laughing and spending time with his family and many close friends.
He is survived by his loving partner, Claudia Janiszewski of Dubois, WY; children, Orion Morris (Jennifer Morris) and Capella Morris (Donnie Steele); god daughter, Lea Wagner; beloved grandson Leo Kerry Morris and granddaughters, Julia and Morgan Masson; siblings Patrick (Diane) Sweeney and Kim Katz; nieces Sarah Newberry (Joe) and Jamie Sweeney; nephews, Jairon and Jason Katz; cherished loved ones including Jeanne Morris, Larry Fitzpatrick (Alicia Lajeunesse), Matthew Harford, Yevonne Hartman (Max Ecker), and countless friends both near and far.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Kay Banta; step-father, Wes Banta; father, John Morris; and little brother, Mike Sweeney.
