Wilma Ruth (Ardrey) Hugus, 86, passed away from Wind River Rehab and Wellness in Riverton, WY to be with her Savior on December 1, 2020. Wilma has been a member of the Riverton community for 38 years.
She was born on February 7, 1934 in Richland Township, Fairfield County, Ohio, daughter of Stanley R. and Antoinette (Reiber) Ardrey. On June 22, 1952, Wilma married Harold Hugus at the Presbyterian Church in West Rushville, Ohio.
In her earlier years, Mrs. Hugus could be found grading apples every fall at the Hugus Fruit Farm. She enjoyed playing the piano and gave lessons to countless students throughout the years. Wilma served much of her life as church pianist/organist and Sunday school teacher, as well as children’s music and drama director. She devoted 25 years to recording carillon music for Chime Master bell ringing products and was also talented at creative writing and music composition. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing and loved to go camping with her family and friends. Her greatest joy in life was allowing God to love others though her. This was demonstrated by her never-ending love for husband Harold and support of his ministry, and through her consideration for family and friends by providing picnics, cooking lessons or availing herself for long talks. Her heart was filled with joy and a mischievous spark was never far from her eyes. She was quick-witted, had a great sense of humor and enjoyed exchanging puns.
Survivors include her daughter, Tabithe White and husband Rick of Sugar Grove, OH; sons, Steve Hugus and wife Isabelle Farmer of Pavillion, WY, Paul Hugus and wife Ginny of Riverton, WY and Tim Hugus and wife Tammy of Riverton, WY; brother, Carl Ardrey and wife Karen of Rushville, OH; sisters-in-law Nancy Ardrey of Lancaster, OH, Marilynn Ardrey of Rushville, OH and Carol Ardrey of Thornville, OH; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley R. and Antoinette (Reiber) Ardrey; husband, Harold Hugus; sister, Rose (Ardrey) Stoner and husband Walter; brothers, Lee Ardrey and wife Patti, Don Ardrey, Vern Ardrey and Phil Ardrey.
