No services will be held at this time for Dan Harlan Nelson, 87, who passed away on December 20, 2020 at Westward Heights Care Center in Lander, Wyoming. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Davis Funeral Home and Crematory.
Dan was born on April 5, 1933 in Des Moines, Iowa, son of Harlan L. and Jean (Bailey) Nelson. He graduated from high school in Birmingham, Iowa before attending college in Fairfield, Iowa. Mr. Nelson honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1953 until 1955. After he was discharge, Dan moved to Alaska to work for the National Weather service. Dan loved all things having to do with flying so while in Alaska, Dan earned his pilot’s license. He built 3 airplanes throughout his life and enjoyed attending air shows. He also had a passion for building model airplanes you could fly. In 1966, Dan moved to Lander, Wyoming where he has remained.
On February 5, 1988, Dan married Clarice V. Roe in Lander, Wyoming.
Survivors include his children, David (Vicki) Nelson of Colorado Springs, CO and Becky Nelson of Lander, Wyoming; step-children, Brent Hedglin of FL and Brenda Lee Frank of Lander, WY; sister, Karen Stump of IL; grandchildren, Joshua Nelson, Chey Hothan, Dustie Massey, Dane Nelson, Donnie Hedglin and Toby Hedglin, JD Frank and Tyson Frank; ex-wife, Mary Nelson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister, Sandra Longcor and brother, Tom Nelson.
