Nancy L. Burns, 75, of Riverton went home to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Westward Heights Care Center in Lander, Wyoming. Graveside memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m., May 21, 2021 at Mountain View Cemetery where she will be buried next to her husband.
Nancy Lee Schaper was born April 1, 1945 in Lander to Henry A. and Ila May (Gould) Schaper. She grew up in Riverton graduating from Riverton High School with the class of 1962. She attended Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, Idaho. She married Clifford “Cliff” P. Burns, Jr. He preceded her in death on June 7, 2012.
Nancy taught throughout her career at Montessori school in Riverton and worked as a teacher’s aide for several years in Riverton schools. She also worked at Wendy’s in Riverton.
Her sisters said she loved to travel and sang very well in her church choirs. Nancy was a lifelong Riverton resident and member of the Sunnyside Church of the Nazarene.
She is survived by her three sisters, Sheila Schaper, Sandy Umscheid and Hedy (Randy) Arnold all of Riverton; nieces and nephews, Allen Arnold of Riverton, Kirsten Arnold of Cody, and George James and his children, Rachael and Breanna of Cheyenne; sister-in-law, Mary Smedly of Gillette, WY; step daughter, Terri Ann Kuchera; step sons, Curtis, Clifford, and Tom Burns.
She is preceded in death by, her husband Clifford Burns, Jr.; parents, Henry and Ila Schaper; sister, Sharon James; and brother, Henry Schaper.
