Michael "Mike" Mills

Jul 29, 1971 - Aug 4, 2021
Michael “Mike” Mills of Riverton, Wyoming passed away on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at his home surrounded with his loving family.

His celebration of his life will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 12, 2021 at the Tough Creek Campground reserved spot #004 at Boysen Reservoir.

Every ounce of Michael’s 50 years was defined by ONE thing. Incredible LOVE. He had an amazing gift to love and to love well. When asked what the greatest moments of his life were- he said meeting, loving and marrying his beautiful bride of 30 years, Lilah. Being loved by her and his crazy passionate pursuit of loving and being loved by his fabulous 5 children were his life’s work and fulfillment. Words fall short in describing his love for his children and their love for him. He loved his son in law & future daughter in law like his own and big big big loved his grandson with all of the immeasurable parts of his heart. He fiercely loved his two sets of wonderful parents, his amazing sisters, incredible brothers and their families, his entire extended family, his in-laws (especially his popz) his friends and his sweet doggies. All of this pouring out of love from our Michael was the entire point and existence of his whole being.

Michael was a worshipper to his deepest parts with a beautiful anointing to sing and play his guitar. He served in ministry next to his Pastor & Popz first at Way of the Cross Assembly of God and then at Crown of Life Ministries for a total of 30 years.

Michael did everything well. There was no half way or half try in him. If he put his mind to it, it was as well as accomplished. He was referred to as MacGyver by anyone who knew and understood the workings of his mind. He always all ways had a solution to fix any problem that came his way.

One of his greatest passions was the ocean whether it was playing on the beach or scuba diving, deep sea fishing, or snorkeling. He especially loved sea turtles.

He loved nature photography and taking pictures with his bride and of his bride. He absolutely loved the lake and jumping on a jet ski every chance he got. He loved everything outdoors from fishing to camping, hiking, walking nature trailers, playing with his dog Clark who he referred to as ‘Poodle’, throwing down some mean Traeger food (he was a true chef at heart) for anyone who would eat (talk about some DELICIOUS FOOD!) and hanging out around a fire pit singing.

Michael worked in the oilfield as a communications superintendent helping to install internet and phone to the oilfield. He accomplished great things there with many awards accolades and recognition with many promotions over the years.

He was also a part of a great community of audio book engineers and produced many top selling audio books. He loved this community very much and it was a true joy for him to do this while he was working through various treatments over the last 3 years.

Michael was a very skilled story teller, a writer, & a true romantic. He was noble and chivalrous, gentle and kind, humble and willing. To know Michael was to have a friend.

There wasn’t a moment he wasn’t thinking of someone else before a thought would occur to him to take care of himself.

The massive abyss created by this void will never be filled by any other human as there was no one like Michael Merle Mills on this earth but we will walk forward with him steeped into the deepest parts of our being pouring out all he taught us, how he loved us and trying to master the art of who he was to each of us.

He is survived by his wife Delilah Mills, his son Zedekiah Mychal, his son Jeremicah Daniel and his fiancé Brittany who are expecting his grandbaby in February, his grandson Azirah Mills, daughter Zareesha NormanLeier and husband Geoffrey who are expecting his granddaughter in November, son Zion Joshua and son Jodeyah Jonathan. His grandparent Patricia Ward, Mom, Cynthia Griewahn and her husband Leroy, Dad, Mike Mills and his wife Estelle, his sister and best friends Mistalyn Steffen and husband Shawn, Shirene Peterson and husband Doug, Kaya Reed and her fiancé Trevor, Max Mills and wife Christina, and Mario Mills and wife Courtnie and all of his many nieces and nephews along with many many uncles aunties cousins and extended family.
