Graveside services for Jay Carlos Montoya, 36, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 23, 2021 at the Arapaho Catholic Cemetery. A Wake will be held beginning at 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 22, 2021 at the Fremont Center (Fremont County Fairgrounds). Mr. Montoya passed away on September 15, 2021.
Jay Carlos Montoya was born on September 27, 1984, in Fort Duchesne, Utah.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and liked making new friends that made him well known near and far. Reading and writing were his passion but he also liked to cook and travel. He was a very unique man, even with his laugh. His career entailed cooking and working construction. Jay was baptized into the Catholic faith.
Survivors include his father, John Paul Montoya; raised by, Rose Montoya and Evelyn Veria; grandchild, Ares Large; brothers, Juwan (Feather) Montoya; Aaron Wallowbull, Corey Garriot, Joseph Montoya, Alejandro Maldonado, Dustin (Toni) Maldonado, Arron (Tessa) Large, Joseph (Pretty) SunRhodes; sisters, Belem (Jesus) Montoya, Madgalena (Jason) Bell, Chezrae Montoya, Faith WallingBull, TaNyka Montoya; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joe and Madeline Montoya, Pedro and Ellen Garcia, Francis and Delphin Brown; great grandparents, Hiran and Amy Brown; sister, Brenda Maldonado; nephews, Arapaho Oldman, Jr., Braiden Montoya.
