Funeral services for Hershel Ray Dike, 70, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 12, 2022 at the Lighthouse Bible Church, 1510 Lewis Street, Riverton, Wyoming, with Pastor Dale Adams officiating as well as military honors. He passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at SageWest Hospital in Riverton, Wyoming. Cremation has taken place.

Hershel was born on July 23, 1951, son of Charles V. and Peggy A. (Miller) Dike in Riverton, Wyoming. His family spent time living in Wyoming as well as Nebraska.

On July 25, 1968, Hershel married Nadine L. Wilkinson in Riverton, Wyoming. Soon after the couple married, he joined the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Dike was stationed in Germany, Vietnam and after Vietnam he was stationed in Texas until he was honorably discharged in 1971,

During his career, Hershel worked as a miner and mechanic for US Energy. He also was a self-employed truck driver and spent some time working for Wyoming Peterbilt as a mechanic.

During Hershel’s younger years, he enjoyed hunting in the mountains but has had a passion for fishing throughout his entire life, logging many hours on his boat fishing on Boysen Reservoir. Hershel had a talent for welding horseshoes into beautiful pieces of art that everyone cherished. Some of his fortunate friends and family were able to receive his artistic creations as gifts. Mr. Dike was honored to be the first person baptized in the church building of the Lighthouse Bible Church.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Nadine Dike of Riverton, Wyoming; mother, Peggy Theil; sons, Allan Dike of Glenrock, WY, David (Natasha) Dike of Riverton, WY and Daniel (Jillian) Dike of Fort Collins, CO; brother, John (Johna) Connett; sister, Nancy Lewison; 9 grandchildren, Brittany (Trenton) Blakeman, Kyle (Kyra) Dike, Kayleen Hurst, Katelynn Hurst, Kelsie Keele, Josie Dike, Liam Dike, Silas Dike and Brecken Dike; great grandchildren, Jayden, Adalee and Jaxon Blakeman, Raylynn, Angela, Jack and Charlie Dike, Matthew Robison, Camille and Avery Aho; mother-in-law, Mabel Applehans; brother-in-law, Kent Wilkinson; sisters-in-law, Aloma Ludlow, Carla (Tom) McCoy, Lorri (Jim) Sauer and Marva (Fritz) Pedersen; many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Dike was preceded in death by his father, Charles Dike; infant son, Kevin Ray Dike; daughter, Angela Hurst; granddaughter, Courtney Dike; grandparents, John and Velma Dike, Rollie and Leona Miller; brother-in-law, Leon Wilkinson.
