Graveside services for Ruth Evelyn Sorg, 99, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Mountain View Cemetery. Mrs. Sorg passed away on Monday, October 3, 2022 at St. Charles Hospital in Bend, Oregon.
Ruth was born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. She married at age 18 to Earl G. Sorg. They raised 5 children at Hessen Cassel outside of Ft. Wayne.
She attended nursing school and became an LPN working at St. Joseph and Parkview Hospitals in Ft. Wayne.
Ruth and Earl and youngest son moved to Douglas, Wyoming in 1967. She continued nursing until retirement. They then relocated to the Riverton area. Earl passed in 1996. Daughter, Cynthia, moved to Wyoming and lived with Ruth. They then both moved to Redmond, Oregon in 2014.
She stated “she lived a long and full life, she had many good times, especially with her family.” She loved to travel and be outdoors. She was very strong in her beliefs and had much stamina and determination. She was a pleasure and an inspiration for anyone who knew her. She will be greatly missed!
She was preceded in death by parents, Bessie and Earnest Schweigel; brother Cliff, Jack, Dick, Ted, Jim, and Freddie; sisters, Mary Jane Spohr and Phyllis Price; children, Cynthia Wagner, Leo Sorg, and Patrick Sorg.
She is survived by her sister, Anna Marie Miner of Florida; daughter, Susan (Dennis) Wray of Redmond, Oregonr; son, Tony (Debbie) Sorg of South Dakota; nine grandchildren, and multiple great-grandchildren.
