Effie J. Keldsen of Kinnear died Tuesday, May 5, 2009 in Casper. She was 79 years old.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Mountain View Cemetery with the Rev. George Wells officiating.
A viewing will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 8 at Davis Funeral Home of Riverton.
Effie Jane Newman was born on November 23, 1929 in Huntington, Tenn., the daughter of Benjamin Edgar Newman and Emma Anne (Norton) Newman.
On September 27, 1966 she married Alvin Keldsen in Huntington. The couple moved to Kinnear that year.
Mrs. Keldsen was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
The family said she was proud of her Cherokee heritage, and she was a good mother and homemaker.
They also said she was an avid reader, especially the National Enquirer, enjoyed her pets, quilting, gardening, traveling, fishing and her family and grandchildren.
Mrs. Keldsen is survived by her husband Alvin of Kinnear; children, Marrow Lynn McNeely of Tennessee, Wayne Byron “Bud” Keldsen of Riverton, Darlene “Dolly” Keldsen of Riverton, Joyce Anne Fretwell and her husband Scott of Rock Springs, Alvin Andrew Keldsen, Jr. of Lander, John David Randy Keldsen and his wife Heather of Lander, Fredaline Hudson of Lander and Gene Keldsen of Texas; 9 grandchildren, Lorrie, Julie, Steven, Andrew, Kelsey, Matthew, Jasmine, Sara and Lilly; numerous great grandchildren; brother Ben Newman of Mississippi; sister Nell Wheeler of Tennessee; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services are under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home of Riverton.
