Hattie Biffle, mother of Norban Biffle of Riverton, died on Sunday, July 5, 2009, at Wind River Healthcare in Riverton. She was 97 years old.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14, at the First United Methodist Church in Clayton, N.M. Burial will follow at the Clayton Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 13, at the Hass Funeral Home in Clayton, New Mexico.

Hattie Johnson was born in Barnes, Kan., on March 4, 1912, the daughter of Gus and Selma Johnson. She grew up on the family farm near Grenville, N.M. She attended college and received a teaching certificate.

On Dec. 23, 1933, she married N.T. Biffle and they ranched in the Sophia and Grenville areas of New Mexico. They also had a ranch outside of Wheatland, Wyo., and later retired and made their home in Clayton, N.M. Mrs. Biffle moved to Riverton in July of 2006 to be near her son and family.

In Clayton, she was a member of the Cow Belles, active in the Methodist Church, enjoyed playing cards, raising roses, watching baseball, and visiting her son and family. Her family said she found great joy in returning to their ranch from her house in town.

Survivors include a son, Norban Biffle and his wife Donna of Riverton; three grandchildren, Lana Meeks and her husband Dave of Chesapeake, Virginia, Kristin Wilson and her husband Brad of Riverton, and Tom Biffle and his wife Stephanie of Glenrock; six great grandchildren; one niece, Freida Birdwell of Clayton, N.M.

Mrs. Biffle was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a daughter, Patricia Lynn in 1948; daughter-in-law, Maragaret Ann Biffle; one sister, and two brothers.

Memorials may be made to Homestead Assisted Living Center or Amedysis Little Wind Hospice of Riverton, in care of the Davis Funeral Home, 2203 West Main, Riverton, WY, 82501.
