A Funeral Mass for Derek Redstar Pappan, 44, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 1, 2023 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church with burial to follow at the Warren Cemetery.  A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 31, 2023 at Eagle Hall with a Wake to follow at Geraldine Brown’s home, 300 Goes In Lodge Rd.

 

Mr. Pappan passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2023.

 

Derek Redstar Pappan was born on March 16, 1979, son of Jesse Pappan and Evelyn Brown in Sante Fe, New Mexico.

 

He attended the Arapaho school through the 8th grade and then attended Riverton High School while living with his family in St. Stephens. He received his GED from Rawlins, Wyoming.

 

Mr. Pappan worked as a transportation specialist while living in Denver, Colorado, a carpenter/laborer for the Northern Arapahoe Tribe and worked in building maintenance in Thornton, Colorado as well as the front desk at the Wind River Casino.

 

Derek loved his children, Ranelle, Dominick and Alyssa, his Grandma, Mom and family, Sheena and Doni and all his nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and his ‘homies’.  He also had an appreciation for music.

 

Mr. Pappan was a member of the Catholic Church and participated in the Arapahoe Ceremonies.

 

Survivors include his parents, Evelyn Brown and Jesse Pappan; son, Dominick Pappan; daughters, Ranelle Pappan and Alyssa Rodriguez; grandmother, Geraldine C. Brown; brothers, Bluesky Brown, Luke Brown, Geremy Garreston, Lenard Harris, Jr., Louie Perea-Oldman and Curtis Perea-Oldman; sisters, Sheena Brown Fletcher, Doni McCabe, Tira Pappan, and Carlys Joy Balatche-Mitchell.

 

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Howard Buster Brown, Agnes Pappan and Francis Pappan.
