Memorial services for Paul W. East of Riverton will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at Davis Funeral Home, with Floyd Jaramillo officiating.

Cremation has taken place and Mr. East’s cremains will be buried at Mount Hope Cemetery in Lander.

Mr. East died Friday morning, July 31, 2009 at Riverton Memorial Hospital. He was 68 years old.

Paul W. East was born on June 11, 1941 in Denver, Colo., the son of Edward Calvin East and Ellen Mae (Hamilton) East. He grew up and was educated in Lander, then living in Casper, and for the last 19 years has resided in Riverton.

On January 19, 1984 he married Merle Durgin in Randolph, Utah.

Mr. East was a pipe line inspector in the oil field.

The family said he loved to do wood crafts, and had made beautiful pictures designed from wood. He loved the outdoors and in his younger days would go on camping trips with his wife Merle. The family also said he loved animals and especially his dogs, of which Rosebud was the most famous. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and loved all his grandchildren.

Among his survivors are his wife Merle of Riverton; step-children Carlita A. Jaramillo and her husband Floyd of Riverton, Thomas Durgin, Robert Durgin, Cheyenne Durgin, Mike Durgin, Shane Durgin and Loren Durgin of Riverton, Francis Acebo and his wife Georgette of Ft. Washakie, Eurendina Acebo of Georgia; grandchildren, Sherry Vigil of Riverton, Manuel Vigil of Casper, Francis Acebo, Jr., and A.J. Acebo of Riverton, Janet Sancho, Cheyenne Sancho, Jesse Acebo, Alonzo Durgin, Jamie Durgin, Patricia Garcia, Christopher Durgin, Geraldine Durgin; great grandchildren, Tonia Abeyta, Derrik Vigil, Alex Vigil, Loreen Vigil, O’Shea Abeyta, Shy Abeyta; great great grandchildren, Audrianna Abeyta, Shy Abeyta, Jr., Christian Abeyta; brothers Edward East of Pennsylvania and Mike East of Lander; sister Ellen Maggee of Rockledge, Fla.; niece, Jessi East of Denver, Colo.; nephews Patrick Dillon of Los Angeles, Calif., and Geoffrey Dillon of Nashville, Tenn.; his beloved dog Chata.

Mr. East was preceded in death by step-children Patrick Durgin, Rebecca Durgin and Maria Durgin; his parents, Calvin and Ellen East.
