Julia Bertha Nichtern, 101, of Riverton, Wyoming passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2023. Cremation has taken place and no services will be held.
Julia was born on May 12, 1922 in Powell, WY to Fred and Gertrude Friedlan. She was one of Fourteen children. Julia attended school and grew up in Torrington before moving to Riverton in 1957. She married Archie Thomas and together they had two sons, RB and Wayne. Julia later married Vernon Nichtern.
Julia was a switch board operator and later was able to raise her sons while staying home. She loved walking, housekeeping, her flowers, and garden. She attended St. Margaret’s Catholic Church.
Julia is survived by her two sons, RB Thomas and wife Cindy and son, Wayne Thomas; grandchildren, PJ Thomas and Stephanie Thomas; brother, Herman Friedlan; and sisters, Donna Imhoff, Gertrude Friedlan, and Rita.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Gertrude Friedlan; husband, Vern; and nine of her siblings.
