Debra “Debbie’ Martin-Ellis, 74, of Idaho Fall, Idaho passed away at her home on Sunday, December 17, 2023.  A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Davis Funeral Home with inurnment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.  A reception will follow at the Riverton Country Club.

 

Debra Lee Martin was born in Lander, Wyoming on February 15, 1949 with her twin sister, Donna, to A. Davis Martin Jr. and Wilma Kay Kuhnke Martin. She grew up in Riverton with her twin and brother, Mike. She graduated from Riverton High School with the class of 1967 and received her Business Administrative Degree from Chadron State University in 1985. She lived in Riverton until 1990 when she moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho where she lived until she passed.

 

Debra was baptized into the Methodist church and later became Catholic with her husband Jud.

 

She married George “Jud” Ellis in 1997 in Idaho Falls, he passed away on February 2, 2001, and is buried in Riverton.

 

Debbie worked at St. Stephen’s School as a teacher from 1986 to 1990 and then as an administrative tech for INEL in Idaho Falls, Idaho from 1990 to 1999. She was also a volunteer for the in-school suspension program at the Idaho Falls High School.

 

Debbie never met a stranger and enjoyed visiting with anyone and everyone. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and especially spending time with her friends and family.

 

She is survived by her sons, Jeff Hursh of Tucson, Arizona and Ryan Hursh of Venice, California; daughter, Holly Hursh Johnson of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin; six grandchildren; twin sister, Donna Martin-Aquilina; and brother, Mike Martin.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Davis and Wilma Martin; and husband, George “Jud” Ellis.

 

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
