Vanessa M. "Nessa" Hoock of Riverton died on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009, at the age of 31.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, at the Davis Funeral Home of Riverton. Pastor Mike Johnson will officiate.
A traditional Arapaho celebration feast will follow at Great Plains Hall.
Cremation will follow the funeral service.
Viewing will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, at the Davis Funeral Home of Riverton with a wake to follow at Great Plains Hall at Arapahoe.
Vanessa Marie Wood was born in Riverton on May 15, 1978, the daughter of Nelson Jay Wood and Charlotte Darlene (Piper) Wood.
She was graduated from Riverton High School in 1996, received an Associate of Science degree from Central Wyoming College, and worked as a lab technician for the Indian Health Service at the Arapaho Clinic.
She married Joe Hoock on June 11, 2004, in St. Augustine, Fla.
Mrs. Hoock had lived most of her life in Riverton, with a few years in Denver.
Her family said she enjoyed her work and taking care of her patients. She said she also enjoyed reading, spending time with her family, educating and spending time with her son, camping, and rock hunting.
Survivors include her husband Joe Hoock of Riverton; son, Jacob Hoock; mother, Charlotte Jensen; father, Nelson Wood; brother, Ryan Wood; sister, Ashley Jensen; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her step-father, Jack Jensen; maternal grandparents, Cecilia and Kenneth Paulsen.
