Joseph A. "Joe" Detimore of Lander, formerly of Dubois, died on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009 at the Lander Regional Hospital. He was 95. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, at the Dubois Headwaters Community Center with Pastor Fred Schroeder officiating. Interment will follow at the Dubois Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at the Bethel Lutheran Church, 626 Shoshone, in Lander, and prior to the service at the Headwaters Community Center. Joseph Anderson Detimore was born on Oct. 11, 1914 in Ulysses, Neb., the son of Floyd Eilas Detimore and Anna (Vondra) Detimore. Mr. Detimore was raised as a farmer and moved to the Riverton area in 1947 and bought a dairy farm. In 1956, he moved to Dubois, and, in 2001, moved to the Lander area. On Aug. 11, 1937 he married Mildred Louise Aden in Belleview, Kan. He owned the Highland Meadow Guest Ranch in the Dunoir Valley West of Dubois from 1956 to 1986, and lived near Dubois. Mr. Detimore was a charter member and past president of the Wyoming Outfitters, past president of the Dubois Outfitters Association, and past president of the Jackson Outfitters Association. He was a Mason and a member of the Black Horse Patrol in Dubois. His family said he enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, the outdoors and recreation. They also said his family meant everything to him, and his religion became very important to him in later life. Among his survivors are sons, Don Detimore and his wife Patty of Lander, and John Detimore and his wife Susan of Riverton; daughters, Gale Trueblood and her husband Wes of Fresno, Calif., Sandy Thompson and her husband Mark of Riverton, and Linda Davis and her husband Dennis of Cody; 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Mr. Detimore was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Detimore, two brothers, two sisters and his parents.
