Funeral service for Valene Renae Revere, 73, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 19, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Friday Cemetery. A Vigil Service with Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, February 18, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with a wake to follow at Ruth Goggles residence, 17 Mile Road, House 328 in Arapahoe, Wyoming.
Miss Revere passed away on February 14, 2024 in Ethete, Wyoming.
Valene was born on July 26, 1950, daughter of Arthur Otto and Margarite Mary (Ridgely) Revere in Fort Washakie, Wyoming. She grew up in St. Stephens but graduated from Riverside Indian School in Oklahoma. Following graduation, Valene attended business college in Great Falls, Montana.
She worked for the Joint Tribes and Northern Arapaho Tribe as a bookkeeper for numerous years. She retired from Northern Arapaho Department of Family Services after 14 years.
Valene enjoying spending her time reading, walking, listening to music and attending Pow wow’s. She loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. Valene was known for being a peaceful, private, independent woman. She was baptized into the Catholic faith but also believed in the Arapaho traditional ways.
Survivors include her sisters, Frances Sanders, Janice Goggles, Ruth Goggles, Marvene Thunder, Clarinda Thunder, Janell Thunder, Mary Jane Whiteman, Victoria Sanders, Cecile Armstrong, Mary “Christie” Lindavald and family, Catherine and Carol Trumbull, Jean Yellowbear and Clarina Yellowplume; brothers, Lydell Thunder, Cletus Yellowplume, Garrett Revere, LeRoy Revere and Lydell Whiteplume; God Child, Kayla Ridgely; nieces and nephews that she thought of as her children, Annie Sage, Ethel Goggles, Hetty Brown, Chalice Brown, Lloyd Goggles, Bob Goggles, Bill Goggles, Phil Warren, Jr., Renee Jeanie Headley, Dean Hungary, Ethel Goggles, Celine Lakey, Justin Revere and numerous others; familes of Revere, Red Cherries, Ridgely, Sanders, Yellowplume, Martel and Warren. We are so sorry if anyone was not named during this difficult time.
Valene was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, William Thunder, Sr., Cleone Thunder, Ione Wunstall and Fatima Hungary; uncles, Felix Garfield and Royce Yellowplume; brothers, Thomas Revere, Lawrence Daniel Brown, Eugene Ridgely, Sr., and Hugh Ridgely; sisters, Thelma Hungary, Carol Red Cherries and Marjorie Ellis; nephews, Blaine Revere and Austin Goggles; grandkids, Amber Rose Iron Eyes and August Dreams Whiteplume.
