Minnie Shurtleff, 75, of Kinnear, Wyoming passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at Help for Health Hospice Home in Riverton, Wyoming. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Davis Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
Minnie Lee Roundtree was born April 30, 1948 in Benkelman, Nebraska to Max and Wilma (Rose) Roundtree. She graduated high school from Yuma, Colorado in 1966, she received her Bachelor of Arts from University of Northern Colorado in 1970.
After graduation she moved to Gillette, Wyoming where she taught Elementary Physical Education from 1970 to 1978. After moving to Riverton in 1978 she became a long-term substitute teacher until 1990. Mrs. Shurtleff also served as an electoral judge in Pavillion for several years.
On September 28, 1974 she married Kent C. Shurtleff in Yuma, Colorado. They were married over 49 years. Together they raised their two sons, Lance and Gavin in Riverton, Wyoming. Above all else, Minnie excelled as a mother. She was always there for her boys, never missing an event they were involved in. She was a hard worker who led by example and taught the boys many of the chores in order to run the farm efficiently. She loved raising her boys and spending quality time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Kent C. Shurtleff; sons, Lance E. Shurtleff and Gavin Shurtleff; sister, Karen McCasland; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Max and Wilma Roundtree; and brother, Clayton Roundtree.
