Lander Valley has lost another great man. David C. Dickinson passed away beautifully on March 27th at a family ranch just outside of Lander.
David was born on April 27th 1950 in Sheridan, Wyoming to Henry and Ruth Dickinson.
The family moved to Lander, Wyoming when he was two years old. He worked hard at school and had his dreams set on his passion for photography. He planned to attend college and pursue a career at looking through the lens. He graduated Fremont County Vocational High School in 1969.
Shortly after graduation he received a letter from the President drafting him to go to war in Vietnam. He served with the Big Red One in the Second Field Force Artillery Battery overseas.
After the war he worked several jobs. roofing, masonry, and plumbing. He lived in Tennessee, Idaho, Nebraska, Minnesota, and mostly Wyoming. He found his talent in Plumbing and worked hard at it for many years. he became Master Plumber in the state of Idaho and Wyoming. Had a business in Lander for years and called it Northwest Plumbing. He worked commercial and residential plumbing for as long as he physically could.
He loved the outdoors and any chance he could he included camping, fishing, hunting, riding his Harley and horseback riding. He cherished his horse,Tonka, and his three mules, Art, Abbie, and Glendine. He was always in the mood to watch a good boxing match on T.V. He laughed a lot and loved a lot, and if possible, would help a person out when he could.
David was married twice. He and his first wife, Anne Johnson had two beautiful children Travis and Michelle. He also had two beautiful children, Jonas, and Markie with his second wife, Linda Browne. He has ten grandchildren total. His oldest daughter, Michelle has six, Kayla, Ruth, Jo Jo, Cassidy, Madison, and Sully; Travis has a daughter named Ivorie; and Markie has Daryl, Lesleah, Jamieson and Christian.
David has five great grandchildren total, Ruth has Mateo and Jo Jo has Hailey, Annie, Calliape and Makaela.
David was the middle of three boys. Older Brother Joe and Younger Brother Daryl. His older brother, Joe gave him a beautiful niece, Shannon and a nephew Shane. Daryl, his younger brother gave him two nephews; Ryan and Dustin and a niece, Erin.
David is preceded in death by, Ruth (Cole) Dickinson, Henry Dickinson, Joe and (Marcy) Dickinson, Daryl Dickinson, Damon Cole. Blanche Cole, Raymond Dickinson, and Gladys Dickinson.
David wished to be cremated. There will be an Honorary Committal at Mount Hope Cemetery in Lander on his birthday, April 27th at 1:00 P.M., for his service in the military. Followed by a Celebration of Life at the V.F.W. Any and all are welcome. There also will be an Honor Run on motorcycles at a later date.
