Carolyn Louise Dent, 70, of Riverton, Wyoming passed away on April 15, 2024, at Sage West Hospital in Riverton, Wyoming. A viewing will be held from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at the Trinity Lutheran Church. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with interment at Mountain View Cemetery. 

 

Carolyn was born on December 15, 1953, daughter of Erwin and Betty (Grable) Schmidt in Riverton, Wyoming. She grew up in Shoshoni, Wyoming and graduated from Shoshoni High School. After high school she moved to Minot, North Dakota, Greybull, and Riverton, Wyoming where she earned her Associate Degree in Dietary Management. She married John Dent on November 24, 1990, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Riverton.

 

She worked as a CNA at the Greybull hospital, as housecleaner in Riverton for a time, Riverton Memorial hospital as a dietary technician, for Homestead Assisted Living, Morning Star Manner, in Fort Washakie as a Dietary Technician.

 

Carolyn was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.

 

Carolyn enjoyed camping, spending time in the mountains, fishing and motorcycle rides with her husband John. When she was younger, she enjoyed gardening. She had many hobbies including quilting, cooking, canning, and her favorite was bowling; she bowled in the Riverton Bowling League for multiple years. She cherished her time with her family and especially her grandkids and great grandkids.

 

She is survived by her husband, John Dent; children, Scott J. Castro and wife Doris of Rawlins, Wyoming, Gabriel R. Castro and wife Julie of Riverton, Al R. Castro and wife Heather of Piedmont, South Dakota, and Christina M. Castro of Riverton; sisters. Geraldine Pittman, June Jevne, and Louis Jevne; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents Erwin and Betty (Grable) Schmidt; and sister, Shirley Adams.
