Leland L. "Lee" Bartley of rural Shoshoni died on Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, at his home. He was 73. His body will be returned to the Geibel Funeral Home in Butler, Penn., for viewing and funeral services. Interment will be at the Butler County (Penn.) Memorial Park. Leland L. Bartley was born in Butler, Penn., on Dec. 6, 1936, the son of Samuel and LaVern (Whittmire) Bartley. He attended high school in Butler, Penn. He served with the U.S. Navy as a Seaman for four years during the Korean War. Mr. Bartley was retired from the United States Postal Service after 30 years as a letter carrier. He was of the Catholic faith and had lived outside Shoshoni for 20 years. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Brotherhood Masonic Lodge No. 635 A.F.&A.M. His family said Mr. Bartley enjoyed hunting, sports, being outdoors with his cows, the birds, and his special dog, Bosley. They said he loved spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Bartley is survived by his partner of 20 years, Ann lacy of Shoshoni; sons, Bill Bartley and his wife Cathy, Mike Bartley and his wife Sharon, Rick Bartley and his wife Michelle, Chuck Bartley and his wife Debbie, and Jerry Bartley and his wife, Janice, all of Pennsylvania; daughters, Debbie Weichey of Butler, Penn., Shawna Palmer and husband Travis of Alaska, Cindy Vroman and husband Bart of Shoshoni, Sasha Nafziger of Shoshoni, Stephanie Moore of Laramie; adopted family, Kimber and Kelly Gardner and daughters; 23 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; a brother, Dale Bartley and wife Jane of Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and LaVern Bartley; his first wife, Helen Bartley; one son, Bobby Bartley, and one sister, Pauline Soule.
