Michael Baldes, 67, of Riverton, Wyoming passed away at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming on Monday, May 13, 2024. A viewing will be held at Davis Funeral Home on Monday, May 20, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The funeral will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Davis Funeral Home, a viewing will be prior from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at The Reach Foundation immediately following graveside services and all are welcome to attend.

 

Michael Steve Baldes was born April 7, 1957 in Riverton, Wyoming to Melvin and Manuelita “Mangie” (Martinez) Baldes. He grew up in Riverton and graduated from Riverton High School with the class of 1974. He received his Associates Degree in Accounting from Central Wyoming College.

 

Michael was baptized into the Catholic faith.

 

On November 21, 1975 he married, Carolina Lopez at the Assembly of God Church in Riverton. Together they had two sons, Gabrial and Aaron. This last November they celebrated their forty-eighth wedding anniversary.

 

He worked as a carpenter most of his life starting with Style Homes in Riverton. He was also a supervisor for the Food Industry at Central Wyoming College.

 

Michael was an impassioned and talented singer/songwriter, drummer, pianist, and multi-instrumentalist. He always made it a point to attend live music concerts whenever possible and inspired a love of live music in his sons and everyone around him.

 

He loved spending time in nature, and other outdoor activities including camping, skiing cross country and downhill. He loved spending as much time as possible with his family and three dachshunds, Coco, Cinnamon, and Shorty. He was a cherished husband, Father, brother, and friend to many people in Riverton and beyond. He showed compassion and kindness in his daily life and was known for his great sense of humor by all who knew him. He was quick with a joke and loved to laugh.

 

Michael was a beacon of strength for his family and a role model to his wife, his sons, and their families. Throughout all of the struggles that he faced throughout his life, he showed by example how to remain positive and keep pushing forward.

 

He is survived by his wife, Carolina Baldes; sons, Gabriel Michael (Danielle) Baldes and Aaron Niles (Justin) Baldes; grandchildren, Monika Baldes and Evan Baldes; brothers, Lawrence Baldes, Raymond Lopez, Henry Lopez, Pablo Lopez Jr.; sister Lucy Aceves and nephews and nieces, Chadwick Baldes, Sheri Baldes, Joseph Lopez, Keyona Lopez, Chris Lopez, Eric Lopez, Jason Lopez, Travis Lopez, Glen Smith, Glenda Smith, Alicia Barajas, Charity Barajas, Lupe Rodriguez, Alfredo Rodriguez, Elida Rodriquez, Mary Rodriguez, Adelina Rodriguez, Gracie Rodriguez, Debbie Rodriguez, Selena Rodriguez, Roger Ramirez, Popito Ramirez, Ramiro Ramirez, Dianne Ramirez, Henry Lopez Jr., Tanya Lopez, LeAnne Holguine, and Alex Aceves; Cousins Roxanne Burnette, Gloria Montoya, and numerous others.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Mangie Baldes; and brother, Charlie Baldes.
