Carlas “Carl” Acres, 85, of Riverton, Wyoming passed away at his home on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. As were his wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family Celebration of Life will be held.
Carlas Howard Acres was born on October 15, 1938 in Oneida, Tennessee to Silas L. and Sadie Marie (Trammel) Acres. In 1943 when he was five years old the family moved to Rome City, Indiana. He graduated high school from Rome City in 1956.
In 1957 he married Marceil Kitchen and together they had two children, Mark and Vicki. They later divorced and in 1971 he moved to Loveland, Colorado. In 1975 he married Suzanne “Sue” Marie Koltak and together they had a son, Clint. Sue brought another son to the family, Craig, and with Carl’s children they made a family of three boys and one girl.
Carl worked as a millwright mechanic and worked for Kodak before retiring in 1994 . After retiring, the family moved to Riverton where he remained until his passing.
Carl enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family. During his retirement, he and son, Clint participated in Wyoming Walleye fishing tournaments and were very successful. He and his daughter in law, Lora, enjoyed going to local auctions together. He was quite the handyman and built outbuildings on his property along with assisting his son, Clint, in building his first home. He enjoyed having breakfast with his family and especially loved Biscuits and Gravy.
The family said that Carl was the type of man to lend a hand to anyone and would always give you his own seat, a true gentleman.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sue Acres; sons, Mark Allen Acres and wife, Julie, Craig Stephen Acres and wife, Meganne, and Clint Russell Acres and wife, Lora; daughter, Vicki Ione Acres-Colburn and husband, Jack; brothers, Dairl Raymond Acres and Marvin Doyle Acres; grandchildren, Alexis (Lexi), Katelyn, Sara, Dustin, Josh, Steven, David, Ben and Hannah; and great grandchildren, Austy, Madison, Bristol, Colton, Kailin, Peyton, Noah, Eli, Kyle, Oliver, Silas, and Bailey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Silas and Sadie Acres; brothers, Audes Acres and Garvel Acres; sister, Maudlean Acres; and grandchildren, Hope and Faith Acres.
