Frances "Fran" Case

A Celebration of Life for Frances “Fran” Case, 79, will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, June 29, 2024 at the Elks Lodge in Riverton, Wyoming.  Cremation has taken place.

 

Mrs. Case passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2024 in Riverton, Wyoming.

 

Frances Irene Case was born on April 14, 1945, daughter of John H. and Gladys B. (Kasson) Helt in Wilsonville, Nebraska.  Frannie attended the Beaver Valley High School, graduating with the class of 1963.  She then attended McCook Beauty School and became a licensed cosmetologist.

 

On December 2, 1967, Fran married James Case in McCook, Nebraska.  The family lived in Lebanon, Nebraska before making the move to Riverton, Wyoming where Fran owned and operated her own salon.  In 1992, they decided to move south to Winnemucca, NV, where they remained until 2003 when they finally moved back to Riverton.

 

In Fran’s spare time, she was an avid bowler but also enjoyed playing golf and softball.  She loved to crochet, camp with her family and especially treasured the time raising her grandchildren.

 

Mrs. Case was active in her community, serving in the Benevolent Patriotic Order of DOES from the year 1977, serving as President in 1980. She was Doe of the year in 1988 and became a life member in 2004.  In 2004, she joined the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, was Exalted Ruler in 2008, District Deputy in 2013 and honorably became the first woman in Wyoming in 2012 to serve as the Wyoming State President.

 

Survivors include her only daughter, Shawnda Case; her step-son Jim “Jimmy” Case; 8 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Case; and her parents, John Henry and Gladys Helt.
