Funeral service for Christopher SunRhodes, 70, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 19, 2024 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at the Arapaho Catholic Cemetery.  A Vigil service with a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 18, 2024 at Eagle Hall with a wake to follow.

 

Mr. SunRhodes passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024 in Riverton, Wyoming.

 

Chris was born on October 22, 1953, son of Benjamin and Faith Mabel (Bell) SunRhodes in Riverton, Wyoming and raised by his grandparents, Francis and Alberta S. Eagle.  He attended Haskell College as well as Black Hill University.

 

Mr. SunRhodes served as a fire fighter as well as a maintenance man at the Senior Citizen’s Center in both Riverton and Arapahoe. 

 

Some of Chris’ hobbies include playing his guitar and listening to music, fishing and hunting as well as drawing and other forms of art.  He enjoyed traveling, running and had so many stories to share.  Although Chris spent most of his time on the Wind River Reservation, he also spent time living in North Carolina and Wisconsin.

 

Mr. SunRhodes was baptized into the Catholic faith.

 

Survivors include his sons, Christopher R. SunRhodes and Francis Bell, Jr.; daughters, Charity L. SunRhodes, Tashala F. SunRhodes, Bonita Bell and Jana Gray;  sisters, Evelina Blackburn, Connie Brown, Rose Oldman, Carla Geboe, Roberta Eagle, and Betty Glick; the mother of his children and long-time caretaker, Natalie SunRhodes; grandchildren, Brilynn Moss, Ashten Moss, Zyana SunRhodes, Brennen, Melena, Anangoo, Caiden, Sage, Christopher SunRhodes, Jr., Chasity, Jordan, Slade, Jamie, Mary, Alvin, Nora, Taylor, Jamae, Wylem, Ashley, Cassie, Mia, Blanche, Harmony, Alsina, Skies, Ozshnee, Kenneth III, and Katisha; great grandbaby, Miliano; nieces, Myra Brown, Natalie Brown, Nicole Brown, Alberta Oldman, and Brenda Hubbard; nephews, Martin Blackburn, Ryan Blackburn, and Kenneth Blackburn; and the families of SunRhodes, Brown, Piper, Bell, Blackburn, Posey, Redman, Wanstall, and Oldman. Mr. SunRhodes was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Faith SunRhodes; grandparents, Isaac and Agnes Bell, Elizabeth SunRhodes, Elk Redman, Francis and Alberta S. Eagle; brothers, Francis Bell, Sr., Glen SunRhodes, Willard R. SunRhodes; sons, Glen SunRhodes, and Kenneth Shakespeare, Jr.; daughters, Kristen SunRhodes and Ramona (Bell) Underwood.
