Marilyn Marie Lund passed away at her home in Kinnear, WY, on July 13, 2024. She was 86 years old. A memorial service will be held at Davis Funeral Home in Riverton, WY, at 2:00 p.m. on August 24, 2024.

 

Marilyn was born November 19, 1937, in St. Paul, MN, the daughter of Charles and Norma Woodbeck.

 

She attended schools in St. Paul, MN, and Nampa, ID, where she graduated in 1955 from Northwest Nazarene College Academy. She also attended Northwest Nazarene College for one year, where she met her husband, Gary Lund. They were married in St. Paul, MN, on June 8, 1959, and made their home in Kinnear, WY.

 

In 1964, Marilyn began working as a clerk in the Kinnear Post Office and was appointed Postmaster in 1971. She proudly served the public for 28 years before retiring in 1992.

 

Faith and music were very important to Marilyn. She served as church board secretary, music and choir director, and numerous other positions. She was a gifted pianist and had a beautiful voice. She and her husband Gary would frequently sing for funerals and weddings, including at three of her children’s weddings.

 

Marilyn worked with the youth of the Nazarene Rocky Mountain District and, with her husband, sponsored a youth conference in Switzerland in 1974. She also served 5 years as the District Missions President for the Rocky Mountain District, which includes Montana and Wyoming.

 

Marilyn served her community as a Trustee on the Wind River District 6 School Board for 19 years, retiring in 2011. She also represented Wind River on the Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) in Thermopolis, WY, and served on the Wyoming State School Board Association, receiving awards for advocating for the students of Wyoming.

 

Family and friends were an important part of her life, and she especially cherished the time spent with her family and friends.

 

Marilyn is survived by her children Vance and Verlin Lund of Kinnear, WY; Vicki Albitre (Randy) of Bakersfield, CA; Vonni Bray (Ken) of Laurel, MT; grandchildren Amber Romero, Leisha & RaeVonn Lund, Devon Selz, Dustee Albitre, and Parker Bray; great grandchildren Adin & Sofi Duran, Dominic Pappan, Elijah Bansept, Easton Asmundson, and Dutch Selz; and one sister, Beverly Lais of Canby, OR.

 

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Garroll “Gary” Lund; her parents Charles and Norma Woodbeck; and her brothers Richard and David Woodbeck.
