Joel William Elk 73 Passed Away in Billings Hospital surrounded by family on July, 28 2024.
Cremation has taken place and he will be taken to White Horse Eagle Butte in South Dakota with His beloved wife Janice Elk for the spreading of the ashes.
The Family invites you to a celebration of life dinner at Sunset Park Saturday August 3, 2024 at 6pm. Joel was born August 4, 1951 in Riverton Wyoming to Edward Elk and Cecelia Piper Paulson.
His grandparents were Ralph Piper and Bertha “Oldman” Piper. Joel has 3 brothers, Toma Redpipe, Howard Paulson, Kenneth “Stoner” Paulson. He also has 3 sisters, Charlotte Jenson, Patricia &“Jim” Ditton, Audrey “Kay & Barney” Arguello”. Joel's children are Eugene & “Melissa” Elk, Vern Elk, Misty Whitewolf “Oldman”, and Darlene.
Joel will be remembered for blessing many people with a great gift in the form of empathy for others who were in trouble. He believed in people and saw the goodness in everyone. His caring and compassion was something that helped others that will never be forgotten. His love for his family was strength that he gave in times of adversity. His life was not easy but touched the hearts of many with his kindness and honesty. He inspired and believed in sobriety and helped people dealing with alcohol addiction.
Joel worked his whole life and was a maintenance man in Salt Lake for many years, retiring with his companion Janice and moving back home to Johnstown Wyoming.
Joel loved going to the Casino drinking coffee and his dog Iptoyee “naughty girl”. Joel also loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, brothers and sisters, reading books, crossword puzzles, and watching the news.
Survivors include families of; Jenson, Wood, Arguello, Pulver, Piper, Paulson, Browns, Oldmans, C’Hair, Hvizdak and Addison families.
