Funeral services for Irvin Lee O’Brien, 69, will be held at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Davis Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Mr. O’Brien passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024 in Billings, Montana.
Irvin was born on May 20, 1955, son of Irvin Meeks, Sr. and Eleanor (Monroe) Meeks in Riverton, Wyoming. Later in life, Irvin was adopted by Jim and Betty O’Brien.
He grew up on a farm and ranch, working on and off for numerous farmers and ranchers in the community. Following his high school graduation, Irvin worked as a Derik hand in the oilfields. He was known for his hard work ethic in Wyoming and Oklahoma.
Irvin was known for his easy-going spirit and always having a smile on his face. He enjoyed meeting new people up until his untimely death from an unexpected health decline.
Survivors include his brother, Harold O’Brien and Harold’s daughter, Emma Nation and her daughter, Evolet Shepperson; sister, Margie Ann and Curtis Small and their children, Shawn McCoy, Cody Jones and Tanya Jones; half siblings, Brenda Allen and her husband, Johnny as well as Hank Perry, Jr.
He was preceded in death by his biological parents, Irvin Meeks, Sr. and Eleanora (Monroe) Meeks; adopted parents, Jim and Betty O’Brien; grandparents, Marion and Isabelle (Calhoun) Meeks; uncles, Sidney Charley Bush and Lavare James Meeks; cousin, Verle Dean Meeks, Jr.
