Ares passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024 in Riverton, Wyoming.

Ares Ryan Smith was born on April 30, 2008 as a perfect blend of both his loving parents, Keith and Nichole (Hanson) Smith in Sheridan, Wyoming.  The family spent time living in Torrington and Douglas before moving to Riverton.  At the early age of four, Ares began a lifelong passion of wrestling.  He began wrestling for Riverton USA Wresting, Riverton Middle School, and Riverton High School Wrestling teams.  Ares passion expanded as he became a Certified Referee Official and USA Mat Official; many wrestlers looked forward to wrestling on his mat.  He was an inspiration to many kids and established countless friendships throughout the state while in the sport, becoming an amazing athlete with at least four colleges extending open letter recruitments.

Ares had a heart of gold, known for giving the best hugs and always there to lift your spirits when you’re down but knew how to keep his parents on their toes.  He was a funny, brave and strong young man that knew his God.  There was never a dull moment when Ares was around.

Most recently, Ares became interested in the art of fishing but also enjoyed hunting.  He loved listening to music and always had a beat for everything.  He enjoyed playing his Xbox with his buddies. His number one passion had always been his nephew, Logan, whom he loved dearly.  He also loved his cousins, Sterling, Daxton, Grizzly, Abilene, Marleigh, Harper, Ollie, Gage, Aspen, Anika, Avelyn, and Lilah.

Survivors include his parents, Keith and Nichole Smith; sister, Sheridan and Dillan Cachelin; grandparents, Ben and Cece Smith and Vicki Hanson; aunts and uncles, Dalton and Skyla Smith, Brandon Kinnamon, Brhe and Brian Polk, Deven Hanson, Maya and Ethan Cornwell; his nephew, Logan and all his cousins.

Ares was preceded in death by his grandfather, Art Honeycutt and Betty Honeycutt and great grandma, Barbara McCullum; uncles, Gary Honeycutt and Fred O’Doan.
