Rosemarye "Rosie" Bauer

Rosemarye “Rosie” Bauer passed away March 27, 2024, with her daughter Roseann by her side, at Inland Senior Manor in Menifee, California. A graveside memorial will be held Thursday, September 5, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery in Riverton, Wyoming.

 

 

Rosie was born March 5, 1937, in Burlington, Iowa to Kenneth and Anna (Kuntz) Wagner and raised on the family farm near Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.

 

 

Rosie graduated Valedictorian from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1955 and got engaged to Gene Bauer whom she met at a New London square dance club.  They married in 1959.

 

 

While Gene was in the Air Force, Rosie received her teaching certificate in 1957 and began teaching 1st grade. Rosie graduated Iowa Wesleyan College with a B.A. in Elementary Education, cum laude, in 1968 and began teaching in West Chester and Middletown, Iowa.

 

 

 

Rosie and Gene were parents to several foster children from 1962-1965 and in August of 1965 adopted a daughter, Jeanne. A second daughter, Roseann, was adopted in 1970.

 

 

The year 1971 brought a move for the family to Riverton, Wyoming where they purchased a farm on Missouri Valley Road and Rosie substitute taught at Shoshoni, Pavillion and Riverton schools.

 

 

She was active in the Catholic Church, teaching CCD for many years at St. Margarets Church in Riverton and as a member of the Riverton Council of Catholic Women. Rosie loved to volunteer and was involved in Progressive Women’s Club, OAO Extension Homemakers, Hospital Auxiliary, local and state PTA, 4-H, American Mothers, Fremont County Farm Bureau, and many others.

 

 

Rosie was awarded Fremont County Homemaker of the Year in 1982 and Wyoming Mother of the Year in 1991.

 

 

Rosie and Gene enjoyed traveling and visiting many different states with their daughters.

 

 

Gene passed in 1996 shortly before granddaughter, Dazhana was born (Roseann). Rosie moved to Menifee, California later that year and lived close to both daughters but continued to enjoy her love of family, volunteering, and travel, visiting many countries with friends. She continued teaching CCD and served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Vincent Ferrar Catholic Church in Menifee for several years. Rosie was very active in her senior community and her cheerful smile will be greatly missed.

 

 

Rosemarye is survived by her two daughters, Jeanne (John) Flaa and Roseann (Mark) Jackson; two granddaughters, Dazhana Jackson and Christine (Flaa) Eubanks; and one great grandson, Alex Eubanks.

 

 

She was preceeded in death by her parents, husband, Eugene; her sister, Marejane; and brother, Paul as well as numerous aunts and uncles.
