Rebecca 'Becky' Mortimore

Rebecca "Becky" Mortimore

Sep 19, 1964 - Sep 2, 2024

Rebecca “Becky” Lynn Mortimore, 59, of Thermopolis, Wyoming began the ultimate vacation on Monday, September 2, 2024 at her home with her loving family by her side.  A vacation that came far too soon, but one she’d prepared herself for after battling cancer bravely.

Rebecca Lynn Westlake was born September 19, 1964 in Riverton, Wyoming to Alan Dwight and Juanita Kaye (Leake) Westlake.  Becky grew up in Riverton, Wyoming and graduated Riverton High School with the class of 1982.  She met her future husband, Mark Mortimore, when the Thermopolis boys had come to Riverton to drag Main.  Becky and Mark had an immediate attraction to each other and were married March 5, 1983 at the Riverton United Methodist Church.  The couple celebrated 41 years of marriage.

For a majority of their marriage, the couple lived in Thermopolis.  Their son Brenon, was born in 1986 with their niece, Mandi always rumored to be their favorite daughter, until Tiffany was born 10 years later in 1996.

Becky began working at the local Ben Franklin store in 1983, later becoming Apparel Manager until 1995.  She began working for Dr. Wilson at Red Rock Family practice as a receptionist for many years eventually becoming the office manager. Following her time at Red Rock, Becky became the Program Manager for Prevention Management Organization of Wyoming.  She was instrumental in strengthening the prevention efforts around alcohol, tobacco, drugs, and suicide. Becky was also a wonderful wife behind the scene who supported her family in the family funeral home helping their community. Becky ended her working career at Hot Springs Co. Senior Center where her kindness and love of people shined through.

Becky had many amazing interests and hobbies where everyone knew family and friends were her “big thing;” she will forever be cherished as “Aunt Becky.”  She loved traveling, cooking – baking, hosting parties, arts and crafts and sewing beautiful dresses.  She made many Halloween costumes for her kids and family.  She loved children, loved Cheyenne Frontier Days, and was an avid Denver Broncos fan.  She loved shopping, as long as it was for her friends and family and not herself.

Becky was baptized Christian and a strong, Christian member of the Community Federated Church.  She enjoyed her years of teaching Sunday School and hosting coffee hour.

She is survived by her husband, Mark of Thermopolis; son, Brenon Mortimore; daughter, Tiffany Mortimore; father, Alan Westlake of Cheyenne, WY; mother-in-law, Ellen Mortimore; sisters, Lori Birt and husband, James of Cheyenne and Lisa Lineen and husband, Doug of Cheyenne; brother, Scott Westlake of Cheyenne; brother-in-law, Mike and wife, Dorothy Mortimore of Thermopolis; many loved nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Kaye Westlake; and father-in-law, Clark “Sir” Mortimore.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at the Community Federated Church with burial to follow at Monument Hill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., Monday, September 9, 2024 at the family mortuary, Mortimore Funeral Home, 620 Arapahoe Street, Thermopolis, WY 82443.
