Sammie Elizabeth Smith, 89, passed away on September 10, 2024 at Wind River Rehabilitation and Wellness in Riverton, Wyoming. As were her wishes, no services will be held.
Sammie was born on March 24, 1934 to Sam C. Smith and Maude (Calliett) Smith in Floydada, Texas. Ms. Smith grew up in Kirk, Colorado where she graduated high school. She traveled the world as a former military wife with much of her time spent in Bangkok, Thailand before settling in Riverton, Wyoming in 1971.
She was married to Robert Eugene Kness in 1973, they later divorced. She then married Robert Donald Frost in 1978, they too divorced but remained friends until he passed.
Sammie was known by all as a loyal, devoted, and loving mother and grandmother. She was a builder of tree forts, “milk jug” boxing coach, slip n’ slide master, and the ultimate defender of the underdog. During her youth, she enjoyed softball, boxing, and was a road trip adventurer.
Survivors include her son, Brian (Pennie) Frost of Riverton, Wyoming and son, Jack Kness of Fairbanks, Alaska; grandchildren, Gordon Northcott and Beth Jacobs; great grandchildren, Leif Krumland, Kendall and husband Tyler Pena, Leona Northcott, Knox Northcott, Delores Northcott, and Joseph Northcott; great-great grandchildren Xavier, Oliver, Xaria, and Zaylah; brother, Jimmie N. Smith of Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Charlie F. Smith, Nellie and Jack Adkinson; former spouse, best friend, and companion, Robert Donald Frost; daughter, Eugenia Beth Ablard.
