Elvira Bearing, 51, of Riverton, Wyoming passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming.  A Vigil Service with a Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at the family residence, 1547 Bitterroot at Beaver Creek Housing. The funeral service will be Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church with burial at Whiteman Cemetery at 228 Goes In Lodge.

 

Elvira Whiteman was born September 4, 1973 in Riverton, Wyoming to Ernest Mathew Whiteman, Jr. and Mary Ann (Welch) Whiteman. She grew up and lived her entire life on the Wind River Reservation. She graduated from St. Stephen’s High School.

 

Elvira was baptized into the Catholic faith and attended St. Stephen’s Catholic Church.

 

She worked at the Wind River Rehabilitation and Care Center when she was younger.  She later was a homemaker and stayed at home with her children She also served as a foster parent for the Northern Arapahoe DFS program for 11 years.

 

Elvira enjoyed writing in her journal, crafting of all types, reading, watching T.V. was a big Seattle Seahawks fan, and enjoyed listening to music.

 

She is survived by her husband, Eugene Bearing; sons, Ernest Redshade Bearing and Blazen Antelope; daughters, Gabrielle and Bobby Goodnight, Jr., and Akasha Bearing; brothers, Forest Whiteman, Dalco Whiteman, Kendrick Whiteman, and Ernest Whiteman III; sisters, Valaira Cardenas, Bonnie Barns, and Felicia Antelope; nieces, Kachina Whiteman, Katsina Cardenas, Kateri Cardenas, Katerina Cardenas, Winona Whiteman, Kylee Jo Whiteman, Camille Whiteman, Samantha Barnes-Kelleher, and Charlotte Barnes; nephews, Caleb Whiteman, Daniel Cardenas, Koury Cardenas, Clayton Whiteman, Kendrick Whiteman, Jr., Dane Whiteman, and Xavier C’Bearing; grandchildren, Jayden, Jacinta and Isabella Goodnight, Collin Barnes-Kelleher, Bow Elk Brown, Desiree Willow, Little Bear Perry, and Elias Whiteman; and the families of Whiteman, Goggles, Sun Rhodes, Behan, Frazier, Brwon, Spoonhunter, Addison, Trumbull, Smith, Sage, Clincher, Blackcrow, Farley, Revere, Arthur, Welsh, Blackburn, Friday, Whiteman, Bearing and C'Bearing.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Mary Whiteman; two brothers, Gaylan Whiteman and Allen Whiteman; sister, April Whiteman; and grandsons, Icarus Cardenas-Goss and Johnnie Whiteman; nephew, Kaniel Cardenas.
