Earl Lauren Haggerty, 93, passed away at his home in Riverton, Wyoming on Sunday, October 20, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Reach Clubhouse, 622 N. 8th Street West, Friday, October 25, 2024 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM.

Earl was born in Broadwater, Nebraska, on September 30, 1931, to Roy and Esther (Sayer) Haggerty, the fourth of five boys. In 1937, the family moved to the Roy Haggerty farm in Missouri Valley. Earl graduated from Shoshoni High School in 1949. After marrying Janis Lund on March 2, 1952, they had two children, Jacquie and John.

Earl worked for Pacific Power while farming on the side in Paradise Valley for a few years early in his career, before buying and renting enough land to quit his town job in 1964. He formed and operated Sand Gulch Ranch in Missouri Valley in partnership with son, John from 1978-2009. Earl’s passion was the cattle business, followed closely by horse, pickup, and gun trading as well as playing cards with family and friends. In 1993, they took up city-living in Shoshoni where they could enjoy watching grand kids’ school activities and touring around with friends and family in their restored Hudsons. They later moved to Riverton and in 2008 built a duplex in the Reach Senior Housing Development. Earl loved sitting in the recliner in the garage greeting everyone that walked or drove by. He always had a seat for anyone who wanted to stop by and visit.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Esther Haggerty; brothers, Ivan, Francis and Cleo Haggerty.

He is survived by one brother, Roscoe (Patti) Haggerty; his wife, Janis; daughter, Jacquie Boespflug of Riverton; son, John (Lori) Haggerty of Harlingen, Texas; five grandchildren, Troy (Tiffany) Dornblaser, Katy (Tim) Prescott, Amy (Michael) Owens, Andrea (Ryan) Gilbertson, Doug (Jessica) Haggerty; and eight great grandchildren, Blake and Chase Norton, Aiden and Avery Prescott, Patrick and Tristan Dornblaser, Jordan and Natalie Gilbertson.
