John Quarles passed away on November 17, 2024.
John was born October 27, 1951, in Vernal, Utah to L.W. “Curly” and Senora Quarles. His childhood was spent in Jeffrey City and Riverton. He was a graduate of Riverton High School. John joined the Marine Corps and proudly served in Vietnam. John was a truck driver, working throughout the years for Haliburton, BTI, Knight Oil Tools and Rocky Mountain Agronomy.
John met the love of his life in 1978 and on February 14, 1979, he married Roberta Ann “Bobbie” Dunn. Together they raised a blended family of sons Mike, Randy and Bill. In 1980 their family grew by one more when Kenny was born. John enjoyed spending time with his boys in the mountains of Jeffrey City and Dubois, hunting and fishing.
John’s favorite pastime was building carts and training horses for driving. He and Bobbie raised Morgan Horses for a time. Showing, driving and breeding them. John also enjoyed black powder shooting and was a member of the Wind River Muzzle Loaders.
John’s greatest joy came with the arrival of his first grandchild in 1994. He would show off photos to anyone who stood still long enough. He had 7 grandchildren. In 2016 his first great-grandchild was born, and his happiness was endless. He loved to brag with each new addition, reaching a whopping 13 great-grandchildren.
John is survived by his brother Stephen and Patty Quarles (Riverton, WY); sons Kenneth and Tammy Quarles (Riverton, WY), Bill and Josie Dillon (Riverton, WY), Randy and Sheila Quarles (Cody, WY) and Mike and Kim Quarles (Monroe, UT); grandchildren Nathan and Isabeau Quarles (Riverton, WY), Zachary and Bridgetta Quarles (Riverton, WY), Karl and Cassidy Quarles (Buffalo, WY), Mathew and Tia Dillon (Alexandria, LA), Jessie and Michael Rider (Riverton, WY), Angela and Tyler Wilkerson (Casper, WY) and Sarah Nacole (Utah); great-grandchildren Hailey, John, Stetson, Kage, Suede, Revna, Lukas, Kaisen, McKenna, Braylee, Westley, Esmeree and Aliyah; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
John was preceded in Death by his wife Roberta Ann “Bobbie” Quarles, father L.W. “Curly” Quarles, Mother Senora Quarles, sisters Cynthia Quarles, Beverly Quarles-Carbon and Barbara Sue “Susie” Davis, great-granddaughter Roberta Ray.
A Celebration of Life with be held for John on Sunday November 24, 2024, at 1pm at the Reach Foundation with Military Services provided by the Marine Corps League. A luncheon of John’s favorite, pulled pork, will be provided.
