Mrs. Morgan passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024 at Truth or Consequences, New Mexico.

Ruby's life story is rich with personal and cultural experiences. She was born on October 20, 1949, and raised with a strong connection to her Catholic faith and the Lord. She attended various schools, including St. Stephens, a Native American boarding school in Montana, and Riverton High School. Ruby lived in multiple locations throughout her life, including 22 years in Arapahoe, Wyoming, and 18 years in Engel, New Mexico, before settling in other parts of New Mexico.

Ruby married Eelvin McClain on March 17, 1971, in Washington, Kansas. As a homemaker, she also worked as a flagger. She was deeply involved in her cultural heritage, being a proud member of the Northern Arapahoe Tribe. She maintained an active role in her community, notably by setting up her personal tipi in Taos, New Mexico, to honor the Sundance for the Plains Indians—an invitation extended to her by the Kiva Elders.

Her hobbies included gardening, motorcycle riding, traveling in an RV, rock hunting, and crafting traditional Native American items. She participated in cultural ceremonies, often cooking for her sons and grandchildren during Sundance. Ruby was also a co-author of four books related to Native American stories, collaborating with Eagle Walking Turtle. In 1979, she participated in the Longest Walk, a significant Native American protest.

Her life reflects a deep commitment to her faith, family, and cultural traditions, and she will be remembered by those she touched in numerous ways.
